The Mangos are a New Jersey shore institution formed on the heels of the legendary NJ band, “The Southern Cross Band”. “The Mangos” are led by singer, songwriter, musician – Joe Prewitt, who has performed with countless major recording artists such as; Greg Allman, The Band, Charlie Daniels and Dolly Parton just to name few. “The Mangos” have since been rockin’ the Jersey shore for over 30 years. Their music is primarily in the Southern Rock vein but “The Mangos” often venture into other influences such as R+B, Blues, Jazz and other classic rock sounds.
Last but definitely not least, “The Mangos” have a fabulous collection of original music written by Joe, many of which are major requests and crowd pleasers at the live shows.
The Other Players
Paul D'Aula - Bass
Paul is a veteran of the New York/New Jersey music scene whose experience spans over 4 decades. Playing in his native Brooklyn, N.Y., Paul moved from the dance-based Galaxy to the 3-piece power ensemble Raised By Wolves where he held down the bottom line for a decade until relocating to central New Jersey. On the Jersey Shore scene, he has played in established area bands such as Ms G and Da Guyz and License To Chill. Paul was a founding member of two area bands, Jimmy Two Times and Strictly 60's and has opened for The Happenings and Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits.
Gary Hetrick - Drums, Vocals
First pro gigging summer 69, Tom Elliot Quartet. Shore cover band Upper Level fall 69-70. Toured with Chubby Checker 70-72.
Sat in with Chuck Berry short notice one night in Norfolk, Va.
Played twice in Madison Square Garden, the Hollywood Bowl, and up and down the west coast.
The Flamingo in Vegas all for Richie Nader R&R Revival shows.
Appeared in the R&R Revival movie,"Let the Good Times Roll", did the Mike Douglas Show.
Touring show band Life Source 74-76, east coast and Midwest.
Shore band Stir Crazy, 90's, funk, blues band Sideshow Groove
